Bonding

Conceal gaps in your smile with Dental Bonding

If you are one of many in Bermuda who are not happy with your smile due to gapped teeth, you could be an ideal candidate for dental bonding, a cosmetic treatment for closing gaps between teeth. During the procedure, bonding material is moulded and bonded to your teeth to alter the shape and close an unsightly gap. Because the bonding material is matched to the colour of your teeth, it will be unnoticeable. At Positive Image Dental, Drs. Ian Campbell, Christopher Allington, and Lara Loescher have been creating happy smiles with great success.

More on dental bonding

When you come in for a dental bonding treatment, our dentists will use a composite resin material to correct certain cosmetic imperfections, including gaps in your teeth. Dental bonding is quick and non-invasive, typically requiring a single 30-minute visit to complete. Once the procedure has been completed, you are free to return to your day unimpeded.

Are you a good candidate?

As with any dental procedure, cosmetic or otherwise, you will be examined by a dentist to make sure you are a good candidate for dental bonding. Bonding will work best for small gaps, so other procedures may need to be considered if you have large gaps or want to close a gap caused by a missing tooth. Those with alignment issues may also not make good candidates, but there are other treatments that could greatly benefit you.

Preparation

Once it has been decided that you can move forward with dental bonding, your teeth will need to be prepared. The tooth’s surface will be etched before a conditioning liquid is applied — this will allow the composite resin material to properly attach to the surface of the tooth.

Bonding application

Once your teeth are ready for bonding, the bonding material will be applied directly to the tooth. The material will be shaped to conceal the gap and then hardened using a special light before being polished.
